Born in Los Angeles and SoCal-raised, I built Black Raven Studios on the belief that clothing shouldn’t just look good — it should stand for something. As a third-generation Japanese American founder, my family’s story — from surviving the concentration camps of Tule Lake, CA to rebuilding their lives — is the fire behind everything we create. Protest isn’t a trend for us. It’s inherited.
Our protestwear is made for anyone who’s ever felt dismissed, silenced, or pushed aside — the ones who refuse to stay quiet anymore. We create bold, unapologetic streetwear with meaning, printed locally here in LA. And we back it up: 10% of every purchase goes directly to the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) and an LGBTQ+ youth organization working on the frontlines to protect and uplift our communities.
